Privacy policy

This policy explains what information the Odisha Holiday Calendar app (“the app”) and its server collect, why, and the choices you have. The app is published by the Odisha Holiday Calendar team. It is an independent app and is not affiliated with the Government of Odisha.
- You don't need an account. Using the app needs no name, phone number, email address, contacts or location.
- The app creates a random App ID on your phone. It keeps your plan active and limits free Ask AI questions.
- Ads, when shown, come from Google AdMob, which may use your phone's advertising ID.
- Payments for plans are processed by PayU (or Razorpay). We never see your card, UPI or bank details.
1. Information we collect
- App ID and phone type. When you first open the app it creates a random identifier, for example
d_3f9a…. When the app starts it sends this App ID and the platform (Android, iOS or web) to our server, which stores them with the time the app was last used. The App ID is not linked to your name or phone number. - Plans and payments. If you buy a plan, we store the plan, amount, status, dates and the payment company's order and payment reference numbers with your App ID. PayU (or Razorpay) handles the payment under its own privacy policy. PayU requires your name, email address and mobile number for each payment: you type them on our payment page, which passes them straight to PayU. We don't store them.
- Ask AI questions. If you use Ask AI, we store your question, the answer, the language and the time with your App ID. To answer, the question and the district you chose are sent to the AI services we use, such as Anthropic, OpenRouter, Groq or Google. Free AI services may use questions to improve their products, so please don't include personal details in questions.
- District. If you choose your district, the app sends it when it asks for holidays, so the server can add local holidays. We don't store it with your App ID.
- Server logs. Like most websites, our server keeps short-lived technical logs, such as IP address, time and the page requested, for security and to fix problems.
2. Information that stays on your phone
Your language, district, reminder settings and the holiday list are stored only on your phone. Reminders and the home-screen widget are created on your phone and send nothing to us.
3. Advertising
On the free plan the app may show ads from Google AdMob. Google may collect and use information such as your phone's advertising ID, IP address and how you use the app, to show and measure ads. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings, under Privacy, Ads or Google.
4. How we use information
We use it to provide holiday data, keep plans active, prevent abuse such as unlimited free questions, answer Ask AI questions, fix problems and understand basic usage. We don't sell your information.
5. Who we share it with
Only the services that run parts of the app: our hosting provider, PayU or Razorpay for payments, Google AdMob for ads and the AI service for Ask AI. We may also disclose information when the law requires it.
6. Keeping and deleting data
We keep App ID, plan and Ask AI records while you use the app, and payment records where the law requires. To delete your data, email us your App ID. You can find it in the app under About & sources. We will delete the App ID, its plan records and its Ask AI questions. Uninstalling the app removes everything stored on your phone.
7. Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
8. Security
The app talks to our server over encrypted HTTPS. Payment and AI keys are kept only on the server.
9. Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the current version.
